[OSM-talk] talk Digest, Vol 167, Issue 24 Database read only ?

Hi Andy,

I do support the opinion of Maarten, too much channels to communicate and this is not the first time that a message is placed on one platform

I made an Github account in my early days, but shortly there is to much to read about and over OSM. IMHO your not able to read and contribute to the map making survey's.

The reading and reacting / answering would take all of the readers/mappers time, so your not a mapper at all :-((

Greetz

The important part of that past talk thread was the question as to changing the wiki grandstand definition to say that it must have a roof rather than usually has a roof.

Unfortunately both the Oxford Dictionary and Wikipedia say 'usually roofed'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandstand

So what 'grandstands' have no roof???

And then how are they distinguished from 'bleachers'???

On the other hand we have leisure=bleachers , when the "bleachers" word is propably used only in USA.

There is a message on the map at openstreetmap.org that the database is
readonly because of maintenance and in JOSM I can't download anything.
I've seen no announcement and the platform status at
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Platform_Status gives everything OK.

What is the problem? Is there maintenance going on?

Regards,
Maarten

Nothing on the "announce" list
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/announce/ , but it was
mentioned at https://mobile.twitter.com/osm_tech (and in last week's OSM
weekly news)

Best Regards,

Andy

Thanks. So many places to convey information but you just have to read
the correct one :/

Maarten
