What was the specific reason to prevent the changeset from being viewed 
normally as if a current user? More time & effort must have been into 
coding their removal?

It's detrimental to the quality of the database if contributors are 
unable to verify these additions.

As has been pointed out, the data is still there. How hard would it be 
to list these changesets as normal?
