It's pretty obvious when you have local knowledge.

Example in Ottawa:

This is an unmarked Bell switching station, it has no windows(why would it
need them right?) and only a few entry points. Locally many people know
it's the bell switching station by word of mouth, but an outsider might
think, wow what an ugly building
