Hello everyone,Here at Kontur (kontur.io) we’ve built the OpenStreetMap
Population inconsistencies report
https://disaster.ninja/active/reports/osm_population_inconsistencies as
part of our work on improving population density dataset
https://data.humdata.org/dataset/kontur-population-dataset. Kontur
Population is used in Disaster Ninja https://disaster.ninja/active/ tool
actively used by Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team to find data gaps in
OpenStreetMap. Recently we’ve made a talk about it on HOT Summit:
https://youtu.be/YRaVa9_6-Dk.
The report indicates potential errors in OpenStreetMap population key
values, for example when a country’s population is smaller than the sum of
its regions’ population. We’ve presented the report in OpenStreetMap US
slack channel https://osmus.slack.com/archives/C029HV951/p1637608417037100,
gathered useful feedback and made some improvements accordingly. We want
your comments and input too! We’ve also set up a data team
https://wiki.opeestreetmap.org/wiki/Kontur to work on fixing the existing
inconsistencies and consider it necessarily to inform the community about
our activity.
