[OSM-talk] Identical Duplicate buildings

I think that we have to talk about Quality again,  the prerequesites to produce Quality Maps and the responsability of promoters that organize mapping.

The jobs we discussed about come from the Tasking project https://tasks.hotosm.org/projects/278 who was created in 2013 by the Niger community but with sudden surge in activity recently.

We see newcomers invited to go in the middle of Africa in a semi-desertic area.  It is not easy to interpret imagery in such context.  And badly, these mapping projects add a lot of bad quality to the map.
The hashtag #womblemappers that we see on many changesets today refer to a high school.See https://twitter.com/hashtag/womblemappers that refers to https://twitter.com/Geography_WHS , The Geography department at https://twitter.com/WimbledonHigh High School.

This is a nice initiative for schools to let students practice mapping. Even more in the context of this pandemy where it open eyes of students to other realities while letting them develop skills over internet and fantastic projects like OpenStreetMap.
But Project promoters like MissingMaps and HOT should accompany the groups they invite to participate. Let me repeat again that Guidelines are necessary, and I hope that our friends at Missing Maps and HOT will fix these problems, organize monitoring, quality control, and exchanges with the various groups they invite to contribute before they extend their project as they plan to do.
Promotion, invitation to participate is insufficient. For me this look like «Organized mapping» with no control, no monitoring, no «Quality control».

The OSMCha link below will show the today tasks in the area.

and I forgot one important point: HOT seems to have disabled the
validator in their iD instance, otherwise the user would have been
warned about overlapping building.
It's a bad idea to turn off the validator and it could explain the bad
reputation they have.

the user has seen satellite imagery in the background and has processed
a small area, so it seems to me to be a correct integration whose real
problem seems to me to be that the real source (data file) is not known.
but the majority of changeset with iD don't have an changeset source
anyway :(
