It's email, it's store and forward and sometimes there are delays.

Sometimes those are within our control. Sometimes they aren't.

There was an issue for a few hours yesterday which I dealt with
but those comments appear to predate that. Equally sometimes a
big provider like gmail will stop accepting mail for a few hours
which is outside our control.
