[OSM-talk] Tactical mapping in Ukraine?

I think that if the local community is speaking consistently, loudly, and
with a common voice, that we should respect those wishes. We allow wide
latitude for local communities of contributors to set local standards and
this is no different. Note that I said "local communities of contributors"
and not governments or laws. The situation in Ukraine is in no way
analogous to the government of China making mapping illegal, and it's silly
that people are offering that as a point of comparison.
Trying to substitute our judgment for theirs, questioning their logic, or
trying to poke holes in their rationale are unhelpful when the community is
clearly and forcefully stating their position. Do we respect the autonomy
of local contributors and communities on the ground to make decisions with
respect to mapping or not?
