[OSM-talk] Standards and certification

As we mature should we be looking at some optional formal standards and
certifications?

I'm thinking of a local footpath that is more suitable for a mountain goat
than a baby carriage.

Do we have a standard way of tagging such footpaths?  tracktype and MTB
might be a place to start.

Do we have a certification process that says this router supports these
tags?

Note I'm not saying this should be mandatory nor am I listing the
functionality that should be considered.

Should we have some sort of central list of these are accepted standards
which recognises the right to local variations the African Highway tagging
system might be one.

Thoughts?
