[OSM-talk] OpenRailwayMap Electrification Status vs tag electrification=no

electrification=no means it is non-electrified track (usualy operated by diesel trains, but steam or these days battery is also possible). Removing that tag means it is not known if the track is electrified or not.

If the discussion is to remove electrification=no and replace it with electrification=unknown on tracks that currently have no electrification tag, then I don't think that would be a good idea. Sure, an indication whether or not the electrification is surveyed would be useful, but removing the information when you know the status is not useful.

It would be the same as adding "maxspeed=unknown" to all ways without a maxspeed tag or "opening_hours=unknown" to all shops without an opening_hours tag.

Regards,
Maarten
