[OSM-talk] Was the deletion of Null Island reasonable?

I keep an open mind, but I am initially against poles, equator and especially latitude and longitude lines going into OSM. Maybe I am swayed otherwise in the future, but this could get out of hand in all the wrong directions and Brian's suggestions go there quickly. The whole rest of the world, while not necessarily "derivable" from Null Island, simply MUST "begin somewhere" and saying so explicitly (with a single node, named Null Island, with pointers to other ontologies that talk more about it...) seems about right. This is one person's opinion, of course — I eagerly listen to all and sundry who additionally chime in on this very interesting topic.
I support the re-introduction of Null Island as a single node (as I've said, with which tags can be discussed further...) as it seems like an elegant "whisper" of "just enough."
"One node as Earth Starts Here." (Apologies to J.R.R. Tolkien).
