I think that's fine.  One's edits are public -- after all making edits
is publishing them.  That's criticizing a stream of edits, not saying
the edits are bad because of the person.

I agree that if a newbie does something newbieish, it's not nice to call
them out on talk@ as the first step.  But if someone is editing a lot,
and especially controversially and wide-area or semi-automated, and
changeset comments and/or messags don't go well, that's totally
different.
