Ignore it. There are multiple cases where transliterations are desirable. 

The case against them is really the same issue  we have with mass imports and automation - the don't develop the osm community and allow for errors to sneak in and without editors such data could linger for a while. 

The other argument against them (just generate transliterations downstream) is wrong as well. If there are valid geographical data to add to the database they can be added. It's really up to individual contributors to decide what is important to them.

The current situation shows how important transliterations can be. Good look finding information on Ukrainian OSM, if you are not fluent with Cyrillic alphabet. It is equally as hard for Ukrainians to browse OSM maps of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary or Romania.
