Hi everyone

I am a new entrant here and attempting to set up a tile server for the
first time.
I am following the tutorial at
http://switch2osm.org/serving-tiles/manually-building-a-tile-server-12-04/and
having some difficulty with the installation of mod_tile.
Specifically when I try to make mod_tile I get this:

make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/mod_tile'
g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.  -I/usr/include/freetype2 -pthread -I/usr/include
 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pixman-1
-I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12
-I/usr/include/cairomm-1.0 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cairomm-1.0/include
-I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/sigc++-2.0
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sigc++-2.0/include -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pixman-1
-I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12     -g -O2 -MT gen_tile.o
-MD -MP -MF .deps/gen_tile.Tpo -c -o gen_tile.o gen_tile.cpp
*gen_tile.cpp:1:30: fatal error: mapnik/version.hpp: No such file or
directory*
compilation terminated.

I looked in my mapnik directory, which was generated using the Github
installation instructions at
https://github.com/mapnik/mapnik/wiki/UbuntuInstallation:
*
*
*Mapnik v2.1.0*

This is the latest in the 2.1.x series.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mapnik/v2.1.0
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libmapnik mapnik-utils python-mapnik

and indeed the file is not there.

I googled the error and found nothing helpful (not entirely true as I found
this list...)

Can anybody help me understand what I need to do to resolve this?
