[Tile-serving] [osm2pgsql] Unable to open data.osm.pbf (#386)

I was following your instructions, but I stuck on loading data from data.osm.pbf, using this command: osm2pgsql --create --database gis data.osm.pbf.

The error I got is the same as in this post: https://github.com/openstreetmap/osm2pgsql/issues/258

I tried to do what you suggested in the post above (I hope I got it right), no luck in the end.

What I got:

trying on tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.pbf the result was: 
Reading in file: tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.pbf
Unable to open tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.pbf
Error occurred, cleaning up

trying on tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.bz2 the result was:
Reading in file: tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.bz2
error while opening file tests/liechtenstein-2013-08-03.osm.bz2

Please help with this one.
