I don't really know much about Wikipedia, and I don't know what measures
they have in place. I do know that some time back, they changed things
to allow only registered users to create new articles. I have noticed
that if I add a URL to the OSM wiki, there is a captcha before the edit
is accepted.
And I do see the difference. Unfortunately, I don't have any great ideas
of how to prevent spam :-( I just wanted to bring it up, so that it can
be considered.

It may be that the way to stop spammers is to find some way of stopping
automated registrations.
