Not so fast ;-)

I would suggest to think a but further than just the renderer. If we  
don't render abutters, what good are they?

1. Talk to Mapnik guys - do they render abutters?
2. If no, remove abutters from all ways in the data base (about 22500  
occurrences) and deprecate them on the "Map Features" page.
3. Replace them with auto-generated landuse areas (generated from  
disused "abutters" information); also introduce auto-generated  
"residential" landuse areas where we currently have  
"highway=residential" roads. This will probably require a bit of  
thinking to get it right but it should be possible.
