That's highway=residential, not abutters=residential?

Agreed. That's why I basically support removing the abutters and 
replacing them by landuse; if the landuse would not have an advantage, 
then the whole effort would be without reason.

I just am against the existing shading just being removed without 
anything to replace it for all the highway=residential roads we 
currently have. An auto-generated residential shading would be a good 
start I believe, and people would quickly fix it in areas where it is 
wildly wrong - while people wouldn't be so fast in adding 
landuse=residential to existing cities otherwise.
