One suggestion was: start a tiles at home server elsewhere to host the cycle 
layer, so that people can test new ideas for server code on that

It would certainly be easier if someone got the "queued uploads" (or other 
similar ideas) tested, debugged, and security-audited on a server operating 
at its physical limits, rather than just suggesting the vague outline of a 
system by email.

(Or even just host the upload page on your home computer to test strategies 
for handling uploads.  Test it using tiles at home client and hit it with one 
upload per 10s or so, while downloading tiles from it at one per 20ms)
