There was talk about distributing t at h over several servers.  The
slippy map certainly would benefit if the tile server wouldn't have to
share the same server with the database.  Also there could be a server
dedicated to handling uploads, sending the meta data to the db server
and the tiles to the tile server(s).

I operate a dedicated server that could participate in the network.
It certainly wouldn't be sufficient to host t at h alltogether but it
surely would make a good tile server.
