CPU power isn't the problem, here's the output of top.
Cpu(s):  0.7%us,  1.3%sy,  7.9%ni, 27.5%id, 61.6%wa,  0.3%hi,  0.7%si,  0.0%st

The CPU is barely being used. It's spending 60% of the time waiting
for disk I/O, and this is a good day.

What dev needs is a RAID array with lots and lots of spindles.
