I believe it is because the SVG files being generated are not consistent. If you look at where the name is being set, it will define a Path that should have been defined earlier in the file (something like way_reverse_99999999). If you try and find the definition of that Path, it is not in the file.

I found this in my testing of Batik, which is far more rigorous in checking the input SVG for errors. Inkscape just quietly throws away any errors, which you see as missing information.
