Same here - i have a spare 8 CPU Opteron 128GB machine which i'd like
to run with fork=3 but basically it either hangs or idles waiting for
an upload slot. 

I thought of putting an "exit(-1)" into the "emergency save" function to
actually let inkscape just die in case of an error.

In another screen session i have an 

	"while true; do rm -rf ~/.inkscape; sleep 10; done"

it seems in case of an error inkscape sometimes create a zero byte
preferences file which it chokes on upon the next startup.
