[Tilesathome] Rendering of tiles with no nodes?

Another way could be, given that the maximum distance between nodes on
a way can be calculated (to ensure at least one node falls in the
bounding box), is to auto insert nodes onto the way when this distance
is exceeded. The way between 2 node must be a straight line this
shouldn't be too tough to do - I would see this as a job on the
serverside.
I'm not suggesting this is the best solution, just throwing some
options at those with more knowledge and experience to judge.
