I don't think so, the client itself runs only fraction of time. Most
time is consumed by optimizing pngs, rendering and osm2svg.

Might help a bit, but still rendering is not the slowest part (for
average tiles).

Dont' forget about batik. In agent mode it's faster than inkscape,
especially for complex tiles. An it also doesn't need so much memory.
