This is my first message, Hi all!
I'm currently running Poynton (after Oslo) upon Debian lenny amd64.
My PC has only 512MB RAM.
So, waiting for the budget for increase the RAM, I'm experimented that
Poynton run slowly when Debian swap memory to hard disk.
Instead, when tiles are simpler to render, and Debian don't need to
swap, process run really quickly.
I think that every times my PC hangs (and, after 24h or more, I must
kill client), somewhere there is a server that is wasting his resources
for render something that instead could be easily rendered by me.
My proposed feature is this: is possible to modify Poynton for download
only tileset that don't require to swap?
For example, putting a variable in config files in which anyone could
say what's the maximum amount of resources to make available.
IMHO if each client downloads only tileset proportional to the hardware
resources, we could have many laptops that download and upload simple
tilesets, and few servers that takes care of the importants tiles.
Hope that this is not notsense!
Regards
niubii
