| Hi!

| I'm currently developing an Application that shows nearby points of
| interest on the iPhone. To show where they are, I use a OpenStreetMap
| static map, served from tah.openstreetmap.org/mapOf/
|
| It worked reliably during the past month, but In the last few days the
| service stopped working, as is discussed in other threads. However I
| rely on the maps having the specified size and being accurately
| centered around the provided location, as well as the service being
| available.
|
| Is it a good idea to use your static map in this kind of context?
Sounds like a terrible idea to me. That service is not designed to have
high loads or be used in an automated manner. Use the tiles directly.
| I really want to support this project and promote OSM by using it in
| this project, which I hope will be quite visible.
|
| I am also looking into having a tile-based pan- and zoomable map in
| the future. For that I would need rather small tile sizes, like Google
| or MS do for mobile apps. Does OSM have small tile sizes that I could
| use?
Take a look at: http://cloudmade.com/products/mobile-tiles
