I don't believe it has something to do with the size as I can upload much
larger tiles (2MB is not so big) without problem, e.g.
-rw-r--r-- 1 tiles users 11301931  9. Jun 12:33 1213007589_23836_1_tile_tileset.zip

I checked the request_body_max_size in squid.conf of my proxy:
#       If you set this parameter to a zero (the default), there will
#       be no limit imposed.
That should not cause any problem.

In /var/log/squid/access.log I see only the error 502.

I will do that with the next file I have problems with.
Yesterday I had one and today also, so it doesn't happen too often.
