I would argue that renderers should embed that information in the .pngs
itself. The info page could then pull it out of the file. This would
probably best be done by the tah-client. It's e.g. trivial to embed
author info and other meta data into the png file using "pngcrush"
(which we use anyway). I, for one would love to get rid of the meta-data
data base anyway and store that info directly in the tiles. (only issue
is that there would be no authorative answer on "who uploade this tile",
which could be killer argument against this scheme.)
