For some reason my laptop shows the main background with a darker
tint, or at least its display makes it appear as such so the glacier
is more visible there, but everywhere else I try it they are almost
invisible.

Maybe but I haven't been able to find a shade of cyan that doesn't
look wrong to me, which is probably because I'm used to seeing them
#fff on all other maps.
