[Tilesathome] Queue query

Am I right in thinking that each "square" can only appear in the requests queue once?
I was wondering if for example a ChangedTileAutoRequest was in the queue and someone requested a higher priority rerender manually, would the ChangedTileAutoRequest entry in the queue be removed?
The reason I'm wondering is that the queue seems to be growing longer (although I realise that only the first 140 odd pages are requests in the last day and then it jumps to a list of low priority missing tiles from over a week ago). When I first found the queue page it was just over 113,000 dropping to somewhere in the 112,000s and that has now gone back up to 115,000 and something.
>From the users list I figure there aren't many people actually running the client (compared to the number mapping, which I believe is growing quickly). That's one of the reasons I've been trying to get the client running on my Vista machine (I felt that as I make some requests for rerenders I ought to at least try and process as many requests as I make, and any extra is helping other users). I've now got it running on my wife's XP Pro computer as well (at least until she finds out - which as I also made the Perl window visible may be fairly soon - but making it visible did diagnose that the reason I couldn't get it to start was a space in the path name, so it is now in c:\TilesAtHome and running happily).
I have got a couple of Xubuntu boxes in the lounge that we don't use, but I don't think it is worth putting the client on them as they are old machines now and I doubt they'd do the processing before the active request timed out (6 hours I think someone said) - our fast machines are a couple of years old now and taking about an hour, assuming there is any data in the square.
