Hi Martjin,
sorry but I started working so I cannot join the meeting (Italian time
would be 4pm :-) ), but briefly I want to share what we have done.

On this topic, I updated the Italian wikiproject in November (
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Italy), removing the forum
link (Italian community doesn't use it: I substituted it with a link to
Nabble, I saw that no more people posted to the forum - I keep a feed on it
just to be sure- ).

Mantaining the Italian FB page I had answered various questions by people
who otherwise would be ashamed of posting in ML (or had a fast question and
they didn't want to open a thread for it).

The most important thing is that I asked balrog-kun (thanks again if you're
reading :-) ) to setup an automated message like the one active in Poland
for new mappers in Italy (from OSM Italia account), here's the content
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Sarchittuorg/Benvenuto (Versione
Corta, mean Short Version, english text included).
- Active since January 26th
- Currently sent 178 messages
- One direct reply (saying circa "OMG so complicated")
- One conversation via PM asking a question on navigators from an user who
received the welcome message
- I cannot correlate it with the mailing list traffic (no correspondence
emails / usernames), but more newbies than before wrote to the Italian ML.
