This is because the coding was done in the context of a German bachelor dissertation.

Yes of course. The planned internationalization does not only include translation but also imperial units.

No worries, Lex, all project members so far do speak English. I will add it as a formal requirement to change the remarks in touched code to English.
A great part is taken from other GPL sources and commented in English already.
