Well, every problem that is not a bug is a feature, right? ;-)
Some time ago, I came up with the same thing and told Steve either to
change the name "uid" in the sources to "id" or make them unique. He
changed the name.
The XML protocoll still has "uid" as name but this will be changed for 0.3.

It is either wrong or someone changes the database to produce
non-overlapping ids. Then it is right. ;-)

I am your man, if you are up to changing the database. I don't like the
double id's for different objects either. However, I am not that into
MySql to do the id generation better and maybe too lazy too.
I don't think there is a fundamental need that ids can overlap.
