[OSM-dev] Renderer update..... it *should* look quite nice, but...

Have now got the Ruby version of the renderer approximately equivalent to the
PHP version in terms of features.

It's at nick.dev.openstreetmap.org/index.php

Unfortunately I seem to be getting random inexplicable errors when running it
on the dev server, which do not occur if the Ruby is run from the
command-line, rather than through Apache, so it isn't as usable as I had
hoped. I'd imagine these errors are related to the API errors on the dev
server people were having a month or so back. This is why I am not announcing
to the talk list for the moment.

Nonetheless, screenshots of what it *should* look like are at:

(three images of the Southampton area at gradually more detailed scales, the
last one at street level with street names).

With the dev server apparently misbehaving a little is there any way this
could go on the main server, under a different URL to the current renderer,
and work off the real database, to see if the same "random" behaviour is
observed?

Nick
