Not anymore since the last license change. Now, Linux distributions can 
package and redistribute the Sun JDK.
I just did it on a Debian two days ago :

bodhi:~# apt-get install sun-java5-jdk


But there's still some problems concerning the Sun JDK for some users : 
It's not free software, and it's only available on a few architectures.


Note : Maybe the SUN JDK is not required for batik, GCJ or other free 
software solution probably do the job.
