[OSM-dev] state of tiles at home ?

A while ago I set up a tiles at home client. However, it turned out that my
client was sitting idle for 95+% of the time, so I concluded that there was
a bottleneck at the server end, and turned mine off.

So - is this now fixed? Will adding new tiles at home clients actually decrease
the time it takes an edit to show up?

Also - I'd prefer to run it in a VM - does a prebuilt VM exist for this
purpose? I'll build it myself if not.
