My understanding is that the 7z file was only added recently as it is 
better compression, however since we kept generating the bz2 file no one 
bothered to switch over. If we decided to drop it I doubt many would 
even notice, however there are definite disk savings in using the 7z. If 
we dropped the bz2 though I think there may be a bit of an uproar at 
least initially, mostly since 7z isn't that well known of a compression 
option.

+1 for having a symlink to the latest though.
