Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my message yesterday. It works with the
X11 version of Firefox for Mac OS X. You can install this using fink or
DarwinPorts. In fink the package is called "firefox1.5". In darwinports
it's called "firefox-x11".

You need to start josm from an xterm so that the environment is correct
for it to start firefox. I used the command:

java -jar /path/to/josm.jar

In fink, the path to firefox is /sw/bin/firefox, so set this in josm
preferences, click create profile, and it will work.

You will need to manually close firefox-x11 after every download,
otherwise the next download will break. I don't know why this is - when
downloading plain black images in native mac os firefox, it was closed
automatically.
