As far as I know there is no general access to the database from
dev - there certainly shouldn't be anyway.
There is an account which has access to the database from dev for
dumping the planet, but as far as I am aware that is the only thing
that account is used for.
I assumed Nick was talking about filtering planet to create a cut
down version, not working against the database, but I see that the
name of the script he was planning to use implies otherwise.
I don't think we really want to get into the business of producing
lots of mini-planets direct from the database as it isn't very
scalable and there are security and privacy reasons for limiting
access to the database.
