It's very hard to get stats as doing so interferes significantly
with the renderer. I wrote munin plugins, but we aren't able to
use them as they are self defeating.

Anyway, knowing how the current system behaves is fairly pointless
as we know it is broken and we have a replacement in the wings that
will behave differently.
