Yes, it does work.  The capability got broken in Osmarender 4, but was
resurrected in Osmarender 5.  Both Firefox and IE are capable of rendering
SVG.

For IE you do need to have the Adobe SVG plugin.

For Firefox 2.x performance is not very good.  However, I have tried it with
alpha versions of Firefox 3 (Gran Paradiso) and it works much faster there.
