[OSM-dev] [OSM-talk] 0.5 test server working again

Hi,

"only" 24 hours after the planet file has become available, the OSM
0.5 test server is up and running again with the latest data. Nothing
has changed in terms of access (read
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSM_Protocol_Version_0.5 for
details on how to play with it).

The most noticeable change compared to the previous version is that we
have implemented all the modifications to the "auto-generate two-node
ways from unwayed/tagged segments" mechanism that have been discussed
on the list(s) - only considering such segmens that are tagged with
something "interesting", and also tagging all these resulting two-node
ways with "note=FIXME previously {unwayed|tagged} segment" so that
they can easily be found.

There's a total of 574,434 such two-node ways in the database now, of
a total of 4,544,699 ways.

The JOSM version at http://openstreetmap.gryph.de/api05/josm-05.jar
has also been updated.

It is not impossible that UTF-8 characters are broken (again) on the
test server but you can ignore that, it won't happen on the main
database.

Bye
Frederik
