Thanks for the replies. I'm intending it to be primarily a standard 
desktop app initially but want to go for mobile compatibility, so it's 
probably going to be harder work trying to port an existing mobile app to 
desktop than write something from scratch (borrowing existing GPL code off 
other projects if appropriate) aiming for desktop and mobile 
compatibility. Basically I'm thinking of something like an open source, 
open data version of packages like MemoryMap or Trailgauge.
