No, I'm not that stupid :)

The one thing a wiki is though is easy to edit, which XML isn't,
especially given that you would have to store it in SVN or some other
place where most people don't have write access.

Do we want to give the entire tagging mafia svn accounts?

End-user-edited data will mostly need post-processing afterwards to
fit into something our software wants anyway.
