[OSM-dev] Potlatch node positioning

Richard: thanks for your quick and informative reply to my previous
question. There are two other questions that I've been meaning to ask
related to node positioning.

When I shift-click to add a node to a way, or when while creating a
new way I click on an existing way to create an intersection, the new
node is sometimes not in the centre of the existing way, so the way
segment becomes crooked. A few days ago it seemed that this was no
longer happening, but then today it seemed to be happening again. What
is supposed to happen? Shouldn't the new node be positioned so as to
keep the old way segment straight?

Second, sometimes when I try to reposition a node Potlatch decides
that I didn't move it enough to be worthwhile so it just leaves it
where it was. This makes it difficult to make fine adjustments. Is
this intentional? If so, is it really useful?
