Ah, I think I get it now. (yeah, took a long time :) localstorage could 
be used when you are offline, so you can load a map, store it, 
diconnect and then go into the wilderness and still view your map?

That would be cool, because currently one would need to install my proxy 
locally to keep the proxy-side data and that is cumbersome.
