[OSM-dev] ImportError: No module named mapnik

HI Guys,
we followed Mr Richard articles step by step, we only skipped that one:

./bin/osmosis --read-xml /home/username/planet-090311.osm.gz --bounding-box left=-94 bottom=38 right=-71.5 top=50 --write-xml /home/username/GreatLakes.osm.gz

and we do that one:

time ./osm2pgsql --slim -d gis planet.osm.gz

when we arrived to those ones:
source set-mapnik-env
./customize-mapnik-map >$MAPNIK_MAP_FILE
./z0_generate_tiles.py 


we got this error:

john at ubuntu3:~/mapnik$ source set-mapnik-env
john at ubuntu3:~/mapnik$ ./customize-mapnik-map >$MAPNIK_MAP_FILE
john at ubuntu3:~/mapnik$ ./z0_generate_tiles.py 
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./z0_generate_tiles.py", line 43, in <module>
    from mapnik import *
ImportError: No module named mapnik
