[OSM-dev] error when compiling osm2pgsql

Okay, so this works.
But how do I compile osm2pgsql with pbf support?
I'm using ubuntu 10.04 srever, and I tried --with-protobuf=yes

configure says:
checking for protobuf-c 0.14...

checking for protobuf_c library... found
checking for protobuf-c version >= 0.14...
checking for ProtobufCFieldDescriptor.packed... no
protobuf-c >= 0.14: no
checking for protobuf-c usability... no

What do I need?
