Something I would find interesting personally is an API interface to diary entries (for reading at least). Namely a "geolocated diary entries within bbox" call (I'm not sure there's even a spatial index over diary entries atm). This would allow easy ("easy") implementation of a map-based diary entry browser a la http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/User:Robert#Diary_entries and generally go towards creating better use of diaries.
