How about using the year as subdir instead:
/planet/2012/
/planet/2013/

> /replication/minute Minutely replication diffs
> /replication/hour Hourly replication diffs
> /replication/day Daily replication diffs
> /full-experimental Full history dumps
Can't we loose the "experimental"? Also "full" isn't the best name. How about
/with-history
or
/planet-with-history
> /users_agreed Users agreed
> /gps GPS dumps
> /cc-by-sa Old CC BY-SA content
However the last few turn out, I vote for either using "-" or using "_"
everywhere.
